You shouldn't trust just any chiropractor with a hypermobile body

Here's the honest truth: a chiropractor who isn't hEDS-aware can hurt you. Aggressive, high-force adjustments—the quick, dramatic kind you've probably seen online—are exactly what a hypermobile body doesn't need, and they're a big reason so many patients arrive afraid of chiropractic altogether.

We do it differently. Our care is designed around your body, your history, and your specific concerns—whether that's pain, stability, or simply feeling safe on the table again.

How we do it

Dr. Desiree uses a gentle diversified approach—the same foundational technique most chiropractors are trained in, but adapted with far lighter force and a lot more care. No sudden pushes, no dramatic neck cracks.

For the neck, she uses sustained pressure instead of the quick rotational adjustments most people picture: she finds the point that needs to move and slowly guides it into place. This matters because so many hypermobile and hEDS patients live with known or possible cervical instability, and the last thing your neck needs is more movement it can't control.

For the lower back, she uses a gentle drop-table approach or a low-force instrument-assisted tool when it's the right fit.

But the piece that really sets her apart is muscle work. Most chiropractic focuses on joints alone—which is why, for a lot of people, an adjustment never seems to hold. Desiree works the muscles that control and stabilize each joint, so your alignment actually lasts instead of snapping back to where it started.

Pssst…

Chiropractic care works best when part of a comprehensive EDS treatment plan.

Dr. Desiree describes it like this: she's the mechanic who gets your body aligned and moving in the right direction—and your physical therapist is the driver's ed teacher who helps you keep it there. Whether the rest of your care is with our team or your own specialists, we'll make sure your chiropractic care supports your PT, nutrition, and overall wellness goals rather than working against them.

You may benefit from EDS-aware chiropractic care if…

  • You want gentle, low-force relief that respects a hypermobile body

  • You've been afraid to see a chiropractor—or had a bad experience with one who didn't understand hEDS

  • You want your chiropractic care to work in coordination with your other providers, not in a silo

  • You're open to a consistent approach over time to build lasting stability
